Upon your initial visit to our center, you will register as an outpatient. You will need to bring your insurance cards with you for your appointments, as well as any authorizations if required by your insurance plan. You will meet with a billing specialist at this time, and it is important to let us know of all your insurance policies, including any cancer policies. The billing office will file these policies for you at the appropriate time. This registration process can take 15-30 minutes, so please arrive early for your first appointment. Radiation therapy is a complex treatment consisting of many tasks performed by a number of people. Some of these tasks and people are obvious to you; others work behind the scenes. (Visit “Your Treatment Team” for detailed explanations.)
The expense of radiation therapy is similar to other specialized treatments, such as major surgery. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of the radiation therapy. If you do not have insurance, or have only limited insurance, discuss this with our physician so your special case can be reviewed.
